I'm jazzed to be part of this basketball community. I hoping to get into some great discussion on the strategy of basketball in the youth game (high school, middle school, youth, and AAU).
I love sharing information on my Hype Offense which is a fantastic 1-3-1 series we run in our program. If you really want to strick a cord, pick up on a discussion regarding the motion offense as it exists in the youth game today. Our 'Sting Attack' might be something you're interested in.
Yes coach im very interested in your sting offense im a 5 out motion guy. I love to add new wrinkles or anything to do with 5 out. My regular 5 out motion seems to much for my young aau teams. I have a 9u and 10u girls team will the sting fit in you think. Basically give me a little more detail on the sting. Also Tell me alittle about your hype offense
Bless you for teaching 9u and 10u girls, no doubt you have a great deal of patients. Our 'Sting' Attack was developed after I felt the Princeton Offense was too much for any team to learn, so I coupled the simple manuevers of Princeton's Chin Series with an awesome (simple to learn) pass and cut series we call "Eastern" which is deadly for teams to use and hard to defend for any period of time. We often use our 'Sting Attack' to set up our jump shooter with down screens in the short corner from the high post who then rolls back into the key for a simple high/low series.
I honestly, believe the Eastern series in our 'Sting Attack' would be perfect for your team. You can run it from a 'high' set or move it down to the baseline and attack from the free throw line. You can tell teams to attack with the pass or set up your best players to use their dribble to gain 'rim value' after the weakside cuts back door and draws the helpside defense with them.
I hope this answers your questions. If you have any more please feel free to email me at coachmckinnis@coachmac-basketball.com
