Coach,
What type of Offense are you running? Or are you looking for an offense that you can run to beat the gap 8? or wide 6? What do you consider a Wide 6?

Coach,
When a team loads up with these defenses it tells me they are trying to stop the run in the middlebut you can still run off tackle with the correct blocking and the personnel. We run our powers and ISOs against a wide tackle six but we would bring the Tight end into the mix. We run the spread with three, four and even 5 wide so that limits the defense and forces them to respect the wide outs but we still run with that formation.

You can run the power to the tight end with down blocking on the front, full back kicking out the end or last guy on the LOS and the back side guard pulling up into the whole. You also have to down block that all the way across.

Against the wide tackle six you can also run a wide trap where you down block on the front side, back side guard pulls and kicks out the last guy on the LOS and the full back leads into the hole.

All of this is predicated that the O'Line doesn't allow penetration and they get off the ball. If they are too slow or get pushed back you are screwed.

Then you could reach block everyone and go toss sweep with the wide outs running off the defenders or stalk blocking them

Just a few quick thoughts.

thanks coach this relly helps me out alot. we run the single wing, split back, i, pistol offence, and the far and near sets. i also want to run a singel back set with back two te on one side and wide out back side to attack the 5-3 we see alot. do you think that will work.

Coach,
I am not familiar with the pistol or far and near sets. One thing you have to do is see where they line up the LB. In our spring league a team ran the 5 - 3 against our spread. This confused our lineman as they played the one LB outside the DE. We don't run with a TE and I just went over cross blocking. It sort of screwed up our ISo blocking until we saw what was going on. We just down blocked to the side we ran to and let the full back and pulling guard do their thing. In ab ISO to that side out of the I we sent the onside tackle and guard down toward the inside linebacker washing down anything in their way and let the full back kick out the DT while the RB went inside off the FB block. We also ran inside zone against that for some success. Again this is our spring league (8th grade), On our Varsity we would have had more success as the line is much quicker and there is more push with the line. Also the backs run harder and lower to the ground.
